Why Curation Matters
Anyone can list a product online. What's harder — and what actually matters to a wholesale buyer — is knowing that a listed product has been through real verification before it reaches the catalog. Sournex applies a specific set of criteria before any factory or product goes live, and a meaningful share of submissions don't make it through.
What We Check on the Factory Side
- Real production capability — confirming the supplier is an actual manufacturer, not a trading company listing under a factory-sounding name
- Compliance documentation on file — CE, FCC, RoHS, and EN71 (where applicable) verified before any product from that factory is listed
- Order volume flexibility — the factory needs to be able to work with the MOQ ranges small-to-mid-size importers actually order, not only container-scale minimums
- Responsive communication — a factory that goes silent for weeks on a spec question isn't a factory buyers can rely on mid-negotiation
What We Check on the Product Side
- Differentiation — does the product offer something beyond a generic, commodity version already saturating the market? A phone case that's also a battery pack clears this bar differently than a plain silicone case would
- Reliability testing — where independent lab testing exists (plug/unplug cycle testing, salt spray corrosion testing, temperature cycling), it's documented and available on request
- Accurate specifications — listed specs are checked against the actual product, not copied from a manufacturer's marketing deck without verification
What Happens When Something Doesn't Qualify
Not every submission clears this bar. A factory without real compliance documentation, or a product that's functionally identical to a dozen others already in the market with no real differentiation, doesn't get listed — regardless of price. The goal isn't the largest possible catalog; it's a catalog buyers can trust without independently re-verifying every listing themselves.
